NOW Is the Acceptable Time

By Anne Hammer

The ACIM discussion group meets on Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. here at Unity of Gainesville.   Here is a recent communication to the group.

For a long time, I’ve been aware of the value of my motto, “Live NOW and Trust.” Scripture from a recent Daily Word was 2 Corinthians 6:2

“Yes, NOW is the acceptable time; yes, NOW is the day of Salvation.”

As always, the Holy Spirit’s timing is perfect.  The previous week we had discussed the ACIM text idea that the Holy Spirit uses time to correct our mistakes.  When we’ve reached the atonement---at one ment---all mistakes will have been corrected and time will no longer be needed.  Time will go, taking perception with it.  (Perception being how we see the world around us, and the stories we tell about what we see.)   After perception is gone, we are left with pure Being.  And, we are no longer “we,” but One.

It occurs to me that in the Now, there is no time.  No past.   No future.   Only NOW.  God operates in the Now.  It is only in the past and future where we scare ourselves and lose our peace.   In the Now we can unhook from thoughts and perception---and Trust God.  Eckhart Tolle suggests we can separate from the thoughts by seeing our Selves as the Presence, observing the thoughts and the ego.  We are not the thoughts.  We are not the ego.  We are the Presence.

I think of Michael Davis’ song: “In the PRESENCE of Love We bless This Day.”

All the references point us to the Truth that we are Pure Being, Oneness in completion.

Join us any Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. for more conversation and discussion related to A Course in Miracles.

Love, Anne
