What is Affirmative Prayer?

Prayer, in its simplest form, is any conscious attempt to experience the presence of God. Prayer is a deliberate activity to experience our spirituality, to feel our oneness with God, to sense the comfort and the guidance and the healing that rises up out of opening ourselves to God. Unity of Gainesville Chaplain’s Ministry is here to support you in prayer. This team of trained lay members of our congregation, are here to pray with you each and every Sunday. They make calls on those who are in the hospital and make phone calls to all the members of our church for a monthly one on one prayer time. Our annual celebration of Unity’s World Day of Prayer on the second Thursday of September is a church wide event. We begin with a transformation of our sanctuary into 20+ alcoves, each with a different focus for prayer. For 24 hours we experience prayer. Words can not explain what happens. This is something you must experience for yourself.

When you feel all alone, there is nothing more uplifting than great spiritual music. I invite you to click on my picture to hear a medley of my favorite prayer hymns.

May God bless you in your hour of need.  – Dodi Pritchett
